Bobby Rydell was an American entertainment legend!

Rydell first took the stage as a professional drummer at the age of 9. A polished performer by the age of 19, he was the youngest person ever to headline the famous Copacabana in New York. Bobby’s recording career earned him 34 Top 40 hits, placing him in the Top 5 artists of his era (Billboard Magazine). Bobby’s hits include million selling singles Volare, Wild One, We Got Love, Kissin’ Time, Swingin’ School, Wildwood Days, and Forget Him, selling a combined total of over 25 million records.

In 1963, Bobby starred with Ann- Margret in the iconic movie “Bye Bye Birdie.” They appeared a few years ago together recently at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences premiere of the digital restoration of the movie.

Bobby’s good friend Joey M from Wildwood, NJ introduced Bobby to a young man, Tommy Coniglio (Tommy C). Tommy, like Bobby, was introduced to music by a family member -- his grandfather. At the age of eight, Tommy performed at Joey M’s LaPiazza Cucina, a fine Italian restaurant in Wildwood. It was then that Joey M, a seasoned entertainer himself heard Tommy’s voice. Thirteen years later, Tommy returned to Joey M’s and sang a few songs. With Joey M’s expertise in the entertainment world, he willingly took Tommy under his wing and together have been climbing the ladder of success.

Bobby Rydell (born Robert Louis Ridarelli on 26 April 1942; died 5 April 2022) was an American singer and actor who mainly performed rock and roll and traditional pop music. In the early 1960s he was considered a teen idol. His most well-known songs include "Wild One" and "Volare" ; in 1963 he appeared in the musical film Bye Bye Birdie. In the 1980s he joined a trio called The Golden Boys with fellow former teen idols Frankie Avalon and Fabian Forte and he continued to tour up until his death.

Rydell's performance in Bye Bye Birdie, and his recordings "Wild One" and "Volare", made him a famous show business performer of the '60s. Rydell used his talents as an impersonator and drummer mostly in pursuing a musical career rather than an acting career.
