Sarah Huang Benjamin’s Life of Food, Family, and Cats

You can tell how passionate Sarah Huang Benjamin is about food by looking at her cats’ names — Sambal and Porridge. They make a unique, winning food combination, and Sarah knows all about those. As the champion of Food Hero, a cooking competition held in 2015, she’s since gone on to host, write and produce for multiple shows on Asian Food Network. Somehow, she even has time to handle research work for the National Heritage Board.

Still, she relaxes the way most of us would — by hanging out with her cats after a long day, or cooking a delicious meal for herself. We caught up with Sarah in her cosy home to chat about intergenerational cooking, her mum’s famous Kong Bak (braised pork belly), and what her dream Sunday brunch would look like.
