Deceased Ghazvini writes in the book ‘’ Riyaz Al-Ahzan'’
Imam Hussein did not fall on the earth once or two times, but he lost his control and fell on the earth several times. Then he stood up and fell on the earth once more from right cheek and another time from left cheek. He fell on the earth once more in order to prostrate; each of them has its own position. When Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) fell on the earth from horse due to arrow or lance, he had fallen on the earth in order to prostrate. Then he stood up and took the sword and fought in the path of God as much as he could. In such a situation Zu Al-Jenah walked around Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) and supported him. Imam Husayn shrine
Burial site of Husayn ibn Ali in Karbala, Iraq
For Ras al-Husayn shrines, see Al Hussein Mosque § Ras al-Husayn, and Mashad an-Nabi al-Husayn.
The Imam al Husayn shrine (Arabic: مَقَاما الإِمَامُ الْحُسَيْن اِبِنْ عَلي, romanized: Maqām al-ʾImām al-Ḥusayn ʾibn ʿAlī) is the mosque and burial site of Husayn ibn Ali, in the holy city of Karbala, Iraq. It stands on the site of the Mausoleum of Husayn, who was a grandson of Muhammad, near the place where he embraced martyrdom during the Battle of Karbala in 680 CE.[1][2] The tomb of Husayn is one of the holiest sites in Shia Islam, outside of Mecca and Medina, and many make pilgrimages to the site. Every year, millions of pilgrims visit the city to observe Ashura, which marks the commemoration of Husayn's death for all Muslims.[3]
Description
The boundary wall of the shrine surrounds wooden gates covered with glass decorations. The gates open into a courtyard separated into smaller rooms or precincts with many "Iwans" along the walls. The grave of Husayn

According to Morteza Enferadi: “Mashhad, quite like other Iranian cities, runs special mourning ceremonies during Muharram, particularly during the first 10 days of the month, each of which has a long history and special philosophy behind”.
Flag Ritual
A special flag has always existed in the shrine since the end of Timurid rule (1370-1507). It would be waved to welcome kings and commanders or at times of surrender.
The flag, which has borne the Arabic phrase ‘lā ilāha illā llāh’ (There is nothing worthy of worship except God) in the pattern of dome and minarets since the 1979 Islamic Revolution in Iran, is currently the official emblem of the shrine with Imam Reza’s name appearing in yellow embroidery.
The flag is always hoisted at the top of the golden dome except during mourning periods, which is then replaced with black flags.
Khotbeh Khani Ritual
The traditional ritual of Khotbeh Khani (mourning plus eulogy while carrying candles) is held every year at the courtyards and porticos of the holy shrine to mark the martyrdom anniversaries of Imam Hussain and Imam Reza
