Nicolaus Copernicus, born on February 19,in Torun, West Prussia, was a pioneering astronomer whose revolutionary theories challenged the long-held geocentric view of the universe.

He belonged to a wealthy family and received substantial support from his uncle, Bishop Lucas Watzenrode, which allowed him to pursue an extensive education.
