He is best known outside Scandinavia for his role as Floki in the History Channel series Vikings as well as for his roles in the movies Evil (2003), The Way Back (2010), Kon-Tiki (2012) and Oppenheimer (2023). He also played Karl Strand in the second season of the HBO series Westworld.

Gustaf Skarsgård was born in Stockholm, Sweden, to Swedish actor Stellan Skarsgård and his first wife, My, a physician. He has five siblings: Alexander, Sam, Bill, Eija and Valter, and two half-brothers Ossian and Kolbjörn from his father's second wife, Megan Everett.[1] Alexander, Bill, and Valter are also actors. His godfather is Swedish actor Peter Stormare.

Gustaf Skarsgård was born into a European acting dynasty. His father was famous Swedish actor Stellan Skarsgård, his godfather was Hollywood actor Peter Stormare and three of his five siblings -- including his older brother Alexander, best known for his role in "True Blood" -- were also thespians. After making his film debut in a small role in a movie starring his father in 1989, Gustaf graduated to more significant parts on Swedish TV as soon as he entered his teens. By 2002, his talent had matured sufficiently to be cast in the lead role in the successful Swedish supernatural drama "The Invisible," which was later subject to a Hollywood remake.
